You obviously didn't design cabin pressure control systems! Did they let you retire early? I have an MSc in thermodynamics and develop matlab scripts for control systems.

Shows how limited your expert knowledge is! Check out this link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Negative_pressure

You should give up now! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vacuum

I don't think that the pressure increases to above that at the ground. No where in my posts does it say this!

I notice that you didn't attempt to answer my questions. I'm quite happy to finish my posts on this thread with the knowledge that anyone who reads this and thought that the cabin pressure is increased to that above ground level has learnt something. Wonder if you really will drop this thread?

    GIVE IT A REST ! TROLL !

Sorry to be pedantic but these people at security are not Customs...they are generally airport employees or a company employed by the airport owners (e.g. BAA) to impose rules decided (in the UK) by Dept of Transport and by the relevant airport owners. unfortunately the person dealing with any passenger may have there own way of 'interpreting' the rules and, in some cases, stupidity can kick-in.
Best example was contact lens fluid taken by security from a uniformed captain about to board and fly an aircraft....his answer was predictable!!!
  • went on a flight september last year at customs they took all my liquid make up i.e. eyeline, foundation, mascara, perfume about £70 worth and threw it away saying sorry you cant take it.

I do understand we all have to be careful and asked if i couldnt take it is there somewhere they keep it to one side and could collect it on my return to be told no we have to throw it away.

The pile of make up etc behind them was like a mountain they then told me if you need to replace these items we have shops within the airport you can buy all these items from.

So basically be warned as i learnt a very costly lesson that day.
The average woman would rather have beauty than brains,
because the average man can see better than he can think.

Many people's view of the world is down to their experience, perception and what they have been conditioned to,this isnt any old MSE reply this is a important and experienced MSE reply :rotfl:

You could have returned groundside, bought a padded envelope and posted back to your home address.

I've flown many times since these rules were introduced from a variety of UK airports and the implementation of the rules has always been fair by the airport security staff (these people have nothing to do with Her Majestys Revenue and Customs Service).

The rules are very clear and available on numerous web sites, as well as having been posted on this site under countless threads. We may not like or agree with them but that's what we have to obey if we wish to fly from the UK. My main gripe is that you can buy as mush of the restricted liquids as you like airside, but as usual it is often at inflated prices. In situations like this bottled soft drinks, water, etc should be sold at the lowest price available in local supermarkets, not the monopoly prices from the concessionaires airside.
