Can anyone help because i get this yellow icon on my local area connection which says i have no or limited internet connectivity.

I phoned up NTL helpdesk and they said that its the computers fault.

I tried a system restore but i dont have no system restore points for some reason.

I had NOD32 virus checker and when i deleted a certain system32 file which came up as infected it didnt work from then i think.

Is there anyone who can help with this problem please. I was going to install windows xp again yesterday but it says that i have a newer version. "Please reboot computer for reinstallation or something like that." When I do this it just comes back to the normal screen. So i cant even do that.

Hope it all makes sense.

  • Did you install the NTL Modem properly? Was it working before?

Have you restarted the NTL Modem and/or your router? (restart both if not).

Are you connecting wirelessly? Make sure you're using the wright Wireless Key

There just a few things to start off with.

hey - what MercilessKiller is def you 1st thing to try. but if still no good.

    A) doesnt matter what the restore point is for as long as it at a date when internet was working.

    B) if you want to do a system recovery that should still be a possiable thing. depending on what make of computer you have you either would hae got recovery disks or it may have it own bulit in which can be easily used

to do this if you had cd's you would insert them and ni thory on boot up should load you into a recovery programme. where there you will need to run a full system recovery - this will delet every thing on your machine but i will be suprised if doesnt fix issue

and if you dont have cd's when you got machine it will be a key on boot up u need to press normally f10 or f11 but you should have some info on how to recovery your machine but if not google will.

boot if unsure mean the instant you turn your machine on - before it mentions windows xp

    hope this helps. good luck
  • first thing to do remove the cable from your pc make sure both ends are clean then reconnect again (also think about borrowing a cable to make sure that it is not faulty)
go to control panel network connections right click on local area connection and click repair

remove all software relating to your broadband supplier and install again (download newer version if available , ask a friend or neighbout to do it)

disable any software firewall (only temporarily!) to check this is not causing the problem

if this is no good..........kick the wife!
