Buying a small sofa - which one?

EDIT: Well, that's a no go. The width of my stairs is 27 and a half inches, too small for any sofa I've measured in the shop. So I'm now looking at either a sofa that can be re-assembled or a smaller sofa. I'm leaning towards the latter, eg this one at Argos..

It seems to get good reviews, though some say it's not confortable in the long run. I'm looking for something I can sit in and watch an hour and a half long movie in. Aside from an inflatable chair or beanbag.
I'm going to buy a sofa but I need to get it upstairs to the third floor as that's where my lounge is.
I could buy a flat pack sofa, but I'd prefer something a bit more sturdy. Could anyone tell what I should be measuring in my house to see if it will fit upstairs?
Eg, width, height etc? I know you can turn sofas.

Without knowing the space you have to work with it could be all 3.
If you have plenty of height then you just need to worry about getting in through the door, then you just need to make sure it'll go round the corners on it's end.
If still unsure, check the return process, some charge a large fee to take it back, some won't take them back.0 -
Measure the the sofa on all sides. You could mock up with a big cardboard box (the same height and width) and see how far you can get with it.0

Ta - I've measured and there's no way I can get a sofa up there. Time for Option B - a smaller sofa.
EDIT: Now I think about it, maybe a sofa bed would be an option.0 -
DD also had to get sofa to 3rd floor, in her case with a very tight turn on the last leg ... She bought modular and it was assembled in her flat by the delivery men.0

I got one, the box it came in was still large... the legs need screwing on and the back folds out of the base, so not much smaller than a normal sofa, not really flat pack tbh.
OP, you can buy split sofas, they are split in 2 halfs right down the middle.0 -

We have the Tidafors 3 and 2 seater and they came in 4 pieces, the back part, the seat part and the 2 arms, the feet were off too.
OP worth a look anyway, as different sofa's at Ikea are obviously assembled differently. Ours is very comfy btw, we love them.

As Cisco001 said they have the box sizes on the site, just pointing out all of them are not small.
I got the Ektorp, excellent sofa.0 -
A bit late to the thread, but if you haven't resolved your problem I'd second Nabru.
They were made to get into difficult to access places. Loft conversions, boats, old houses with small doorways or narrow corridors.
I've had a sofa, a sofa bed and an armchair. All taken 4 years of battering by small children. Upholstery cleaned in the washing machine twice without problems.
The largest part of any of their sofas is the arms the rest is planks to form the base, boards to form the back and seat. Then the foam and fabric. Everything for a 2 seat sofa could probably easily fit into a lift. If you watch the video of how to assemble then the instructions make more sense and assembly shouldn't take more than an hour.0
