Finding compatible RAM

So I am looking for a RAM upgrade for my laptop.

Having used the Crucial memory scanner it has identified this:
http://uk.crucial.com/gbr/en/satellite-c660d-1c6/CT5665638
As compatible.

However, I have also found this:
http://uk.crucial.com/gbr/en/ct2kit51264bf160b
Which has identical technical statistics, but is apparently not compatible. I have found this considerably cheaper elsewhere which is why I am interested.

Can anybody tell me what makes the first one compatible and the second one incompatible? Model is Toshiba Satellite C660D-1C6.

Thanks

Looks like a glitch with their system, maybe becuase you have one or more sticks in place and that is making the glitch? Both should work fine. Not a bad price too for decent RAM. Beware buying cheap RAM you may find you have more problems with it.

Thanks for the reassurance. I just wondered why they would manufacture two seemingly identical sticks of memory, give them different product codes but not explain what the difference actually is.

Go to the Crucial website and there you will find an online scan which will scan you device and tell you what you need

Gosh, I wonder why the OP didn't think about doing that...

I generally check things out at Crucial, and I sometimes buy from them too.
