USD Debit/Prepaid card

Options
Hi Everyone

Hoping someone has a solution to this. Seems simple, doesn't seem to be simple to solve.

As a semi-professional poker player, I have an amount of US dollars on a particular site. In 6 weeks, I will be flying to Las Vegas, and wish to use these dollars as 'spending money', avoiding as many charges as possible.

It seems daft to withdraw dollars into pounds into my bank account, only to buy dollars again with the pounds. Two currency exchanges, plus another when I get back with any left over.

I'd like a prepaid card where I can transfer directly in dollars in the UK, take the card to the US, use it like any cash card in ATMs or as Visa/Mastercard, and not pay any exchange rates or commissions.

I have a Skrill account, but although it displays in $US, it's actually a Euro card, so my $ will get changed to Euros, then I will be charged 2.4% per transaction while in the US.

Grrrr.

Does anyone know of a solution please?

    Ever heard of Neteller?
It's a e-wallet that most gambling sites accept. And it offers a prepaid card linked to the account.
You can have an account in USD.

That said, it's worth asking them to make sure that there is no any extra conversions when paying in USD by a card linked to USD account.

Also, not all gambling sites allow having more than one deposit/withdrawal method registered on your account.

Skrill, like Neterller, offer a linked card too, and the account can be in USD.
  • Sorry for not thanking you.

Hope my experience helps. I did indeed open a Neteller account (in USD, v important), then carried my dollars over directly online. Card worked fine in America - as long as you don't use it in an ATM too often (take large qtys out to avoid multiple fees) it's absolutely fine. Only thing you can't do there is access your online account, so needs sorting out beforehand.

    Thanks for your help!
