Portugal or Malta?

If you are flying into Portugal look at flying to Lisbon, flight prices were half that of flights to Faro. We are travelling down to the Lagos area, but I beleive there are some fantastic spots much nearer to Lisbon, Cascais for example.
Of the two (and I love Malta) it has to be Portugal for a beach holiday.0 -
Well things took an unexpected turn and I've ended up booking a weekend in Venice instead!

Thanks for all the tips though, certainly given me some ideas for next years holiday.0 -
Don't forget to budget for the significant extra spending money you'll need for Venice.
It'll be extremely busy, so consider getting up at the crack of dawn to see the sites before the others get there, it'll be cooler as well.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0 -
Venice is August is likely to be a bit smelly too - nothing you can do but be prepared!0

Not been to Portugal (yet, but would love to) ....but Malta is lovely!0

Agree with the poster above about getting up early as it will be extremely busy around the main areas - a wonderful place to visit though. Never noticed a smell myself, been several times in summer, maybe I was lucky - or have no sense of smell lol, but the only people who've ever told me it smelled had never been.0

Venice is an amazing place. Its hard to avoid crowds anywhere these days, especially in the well known places.0
