I really like Firefox and Opera, but find Opera much faster than Firefox. The only problem with Opera is that it does not display alot of sites correctly, or rather most sites are still optimised for IE. Firefox does seem to handle sites better than Opera, and of course there are more interesting plugins around for Firefox. I particularly like the Adblock plugin that removes all the adverts from web pages. I use it on my Yahoo Mail account and effectively get the ad-free service without paying for the premium service.

Pretty sure you can get 'gestures' as a firefox add-on

You can choose from a variety of addons for mouse gestures and Firefox HERE

Well I moved from Avant Browser to Firefox and am considering going back again. Avant uses the IE engine but I'm pretty sure Firefox is based on Netscape Navigator.

Hmm... Maybe I should give Firefox another go. I never tried any plugins for it.

How much slower is Firefox compared to Opera? because I like to keep lots of tabs open.

Yahoo mail users may experience problems after disabling the Javascript in Firefox!

Yahoo mail relies on it to work!

I've always found ff faster than Opera - but I haven't tried the latest Opera

    You can make Firefox faster:

    Tweak Network Settings

I'm using Opera at the moment and what I like about it is the mail. When you receive a message from a contact the all automatically go into the same place so you can instantly see all mail from that person.

Yahoo will automatically redirect you to their old javascript free version in this case, but alot of functionality is of course lost.

Opera (biased obviously) has a web page with speed tests for common browsers

    http://www.howtocreate.co.uk/browserSpeed.html

This suggests that the latest version of Opera is faster than the early 1.0 builds of Firefox.

Firefox is the result of Netscape Releasing their code in 1998. It is a standalone product. Avant is merely an extension to IE (you must have IE working for Avant to work)
