littlewoods and credit file

Hi guys

First time poster so please be gentle.

I have a ongoing issue with littlewoods. I made 2 payments in January 2015 one at the beginning and 1 at the end. In February I received notification of a late payment charge. Called up and spoke to littlewoods who explained I had made the 2nd payment 3 days before my new statement period and this was why he payment had been applied. Spoke to the payments department who were happy to remove the charge and explained that my credit rating wouldn't be affected. I even paid up the full balance on the account so hat it wouldn't happen again!

Checked my credit file today and it has! Spoke to their manager in payments today who said they would not remove the information from my credit file!! I feel.like I am being penalised for paying early. I didnt realise at the time i was paying early as i was on holiday and knew i had paid at the beginning of the month so thought another payment was due soon.

Am I mistaken in feeling that this is unfair??

Thanks in advance

    Hi

Unfortunately paying early isn't an option with catalogue accounts/credit cards unless you pay the balance in full. It is part of the terms & conditions that you must make a payment every billing period between the statement date and the due date.

That said if they told you they were willing to remove the charge and not record a missed payment as a goodwill gesture then they should really honour that.

I would try speaking to them again and hopefully get another advisor and state that when you first explained your mistake you were told that your credit file would not be marked with a missed pament.

If that doesn't work then I would try writing to them and asking them to reconsider.

It might be worth you setting up a DD for atleast the minimum payment to prevent the situation arising again.
