PIP assessment

Hello I am new here and would like to ask a question on behalf of a friend if that's ok.
She had an assessment for pip last week. The person doing the assessment arrived and she recognised her straight away as being in the year below her at school.
She doesn't know her personally but they have mutual friends.
My friend said she recognised her and asked if she was from her area, she seemed shocked at the question but said no she wasn't.
Anyway it definitely was the person who she thought it was and feels uncomfortable that she sort of knew the person and that they have mutual friends.
I've told her that I'm sure she will keep everything confidential.
I suppose my question is, does anyone think that this lady shouldn't be doing assessments in her hometown with people she could very well know?
Thanks for reading,
Lou

I would be contacting ATOS/DWP as there may well be a conflict of interest
  • Many thanks for the reply.
Do you think that they should never have gone ahead with the assessment when it was obvious my friend recognised her?

It is not a conflict of interest if you simply know of the person.
It's a conflict of interest if you punched them in the face a lot at school, or you had any significant interaction with them either positive or negative.

They are required to keep the interviews secret, and if they spread around private information, will face serious consequences.

I think its a great thing to have local people doing the assessments, so that when the "ill" person is dancing the night away, playing footaball and golf, and lugging tons of crisps, extra strong lager and pies back from shopping, they may well be seen by that person who did the assessment, who thinks "how odd", maybe Lazarus has been in town, and the ill person who turned up, "ohhing", "arghiing" and grimacing at the assessment has made a fantastic recovery, I love nice endings.

    Absolutely!!!

I'm fascinated by people that use a stick or a crutch that very rarely touches the ground as they walk along.More often than not the aid is being dragged along behind them. No more so than some 'disabled contestants' that appear on the Jeremy Kyle Show!
