Can't Wait To Be Rid Of Orange!!

Has anyone been in my situation that can advise please? After 4 years of dial up with Orange,i have moved across to Madasafish and gave notice to Orange on the 18th July.I knew i had another 30 days to pay for,due up on 17th August.I got an email out of them confirming the cancellation and i had asked about the direct debit due 10th Aug for the next month, assuming they will charge prorata. They skirted round this question so i logged in today to see what they are going to charge.Very annoyed to see they 're taking the full month again .Rang them and had to wait over 5 minutes to be told their systems are down and ring back later:mad: so even more angry .

Have just emailed them and explained the situation and asked for an immediate change to my bill, but don't know when i will get a reply.

Has anyone had this happen to them and been refunded after the end date? I didn't stay with Orange because of the bad feedback about them, including not being able to get away from them!!.I know it is not huge amounts of money but it is the principle.

Why didn't you cancel your DD to prevent this happening?

Because the due date for the account to be closed ,is 7 days after the payment date and i assumed they would want paying up to that date.If i had cancelled the DD which is on my credit card, then surely they would have asked for the payment anyway.Come to think of it,if i had had any sense,i would have done that ,then i would only have paid what i thought was due.

    Hindsight is a wonderful thing!!

If the payment was from your credit card, you can't cancel it anyway, so something else to remember next time. Change any payments to DD, which you can cancel with a couple of mouse clicks.

  • I had the same problem with Tiscali a couple of years ago. Decided to cancel for same reason as yours and they decided to take 5 months charges out of my account. After dozens of calls & emails I finally got to talk to an advisor with an IQ over 10 that empathised with me & sorted my problem by sending me a cheque for 5 months charges plus 20 quid for the hassle.

So my advice is that there is someone in that organisation that does care enough to help you....Its just a matter of finding them.
