Reclaiming Overdraft Charges from Santander. Success!

I posted about a month ago seeking advice about claiming charges from Santander as my account had been changed from a Student account to a current one.
I didnt get any replies, but I downloaded a template from this site and sent a letter to customer services/complaints. At first i was brushed off, but I escalated to the Financial Ombudsman; and today I got a call saying that authorised (which i wouldn't have recieved if my account had remained a student account) and the resulting unauthorised overdraft charges totalling £1031 had been refunded to me to me. She admitted that my account had been changed by their system in error and threw in an extra £100.
So i gues im just posting to say that even if your bank dismisses your claim, go to the Financial Ombudsman, they are very helpful and completely free! Good luck!

Well done on your success but you won because of a specific bank error (student account incorrectly changed to current account) this does not reflect any other overdraft complaints as the banks won the court case in 2009 and the FOS can't do anything about general bank complaints
Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.
