Private parking charge

I received a parking charge notice from UK parking control whilst parked on private land which is free to park. The charge was for £90 reduced if paid within 14 days. I appealed the charge and heard nothing then today I've received a letter from a debt recovery agent a demand for payment for £150 ! When I questioned this they said they didn't receive the appeal I I now have to pay the £150 or they'll take me to court, I don't know what to do next. Any advice would be appreciated.
