Who sorts out the conveyancing solicitor?

I am intending to purchase a house for cash. I have seen a few properties come onto the market that have moved fast. I'd therefore like to put myself in a position to move as quickly as I can.
Do I need to get a conveyancing solicitor ready in my "back pocket"?

Not necessarily, there's virtually nothing they can do for you before you have identified a property to purchase.
Having said that, spending a little time assessing who you'd like to act on your behalf is not a bad idea.
When choosing a solicitor remember that cheapest is very rarely best.0 -

Recommendations. Online reviews. A chat on to phone to get a feel of how you get on. Fee charges if completion doesn't take place. Whether you want local 'real' people, or internet based large company.

When you see a property you like, make an offer, negotiate, agree a price.
Then spend a leisurely week or two shopping round solicitors, getting quotes, reading the T&Cs in those quotes to find the hidden charges, check the online reviews of the various solictors, make appointments to meet them so you can make your own assessment, and then...... discover the property has been sold.
