My postal entry got posted to me!

A little bit cheesed with this and I am hoping the others I sent out with it don't show up in the next day or two. :o

I write the address I am sending the entry to on the front of a blank postcard with the stamp above it. Then write my address on the back. I suppose it would be easy for them to make the mistake if they where looking at the back and not the front.

Any tips on avoiding this in the future, I suppose I should write CONTACT, instead of just my address straight up on the back. To be honest it has made me a bit unsure of entering any more postals! I like entering them though and think there is probably a little more chance of winning on them (less entries), but rather annoying that this has happened since stamps arn't cheap!

Gave my husband a good laugh though. :rotfl:

Spending to enter competitions is NOT MoneySaving.

    Thank you both.

Snakespilsen you have a good point, I do say it is the closest I'd ever get to "gambling" :rotfl: and for that reason I don't let myself enter every one I'd like. I do enter the ITV ones though, and sometimes when there are quite a few prizes to be given out or something extra nice (that last gadget show postal comes to mind ;) ).

Thanks for that link Firefly some very good tips there from Miss Cinnabon which I will be using!

No need for the inverted commas spending money to enter a competition is gambling.

If you see it like that, there are tens of millions of UK gamblers out there just with the lottery! I certainly won't be made to feel bad about it.

I enter some of the big-prize postals and have so far only won a £20 coin and £500 Wickes vouchers (which, for me, has made it worthwhile).

Anyway... re postcards, if it's one where you write their address one side and yours the other, try adding 'SENDER' above your details too. I also always slant it diagonally or twist it 90 degrees and write that way. Touch wood, not had one returned yet.

I usually use this link and print onto card:

    http://www.making-greeting-cards.com/support-files/postcard.pdf

Means it's all on one side of the postcard which makes it a bit clearer if you write your details sideways.

    Good luck :D

I had this happen to me years ago when there were one or two websites which offered free postcards - Handbag was one of them I seem to recall - a whole load came to me instead of the adressee annoying but no financial loss.

These days unless it's a free post card and a unfranked stamp that came my way I don't bother with postals.

I've even had parcels deliverd back to me more than once but I just took it back to post office where I posted it from and asked them to try again.

I think this is a case of personal opinion. What defines gambling and what doesn't. Technically speaking every comper is a gambler given that we put hours in (gambling time) and using electricity to power the computer (costs money) to enter comps.

Regardless of whether we think what we are doing is gambling or not. Everything we do does require something to be put in in order to have any success, so with anything in life there is always an element of "gambling".

I just tend to think of gambling and define gambling, when there is something serious put on the line, e.g £10+ bet on a footy game winning. But that is just my definition, I'm sure we all see it a little differently. :)
