Luton to Heathrow - Friday 22:30 flight

Hi everyone,
I have a 22:30 flight from Heathrow Terminal 2 on Friday 22nd. I plan to get there for 8pm.
I am a little concerned about joining the M1 southbound at J11, followed by the M25 (anti clockwise) on a Friday evening (especially as the bank holiday / half term holiday starts). I wouldn't want to get stuck in serious traffic and miss my flight!
What time would you advise I leave Luton?
Thanks in advance

The earlier the better!
I would leave at 4pm, have dinner at the airport0 -
I would rather arrive too early at the airport and chill out, than risk a delay on the M1, especially on a Friday and Bank Holiday. I have twice been stuck on the M1 while only travelling one junction and it's taken me three hours! Not worth the risk.0

The M1 shouldn't be a problem just the 25
I'd be tempted to cut across to the M40 and then maybe the M4
It's not really my neck of the woods so I may have my orientation a bit askew but it feels about right
Change is inevitable, except from a vending machine.0 -
Going down the M40 and accross to the M4 will add a lot to the journey, and only cut out one junction on the M25. Most of the traffic starts around junction 15 (for the M4) so shouldn't add too much to the trip.0

If you have a mobile with internet connection just put the route in Google maps and it will tell you the quickest route according to traffic, but I would probably leave around 4 - 5...0
