This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine

Morning all,

Nice bright day here shame I am off to work, still it should be quieter as I am at the other site and a lot of our customers like to get out for a bit of a walk at lunch time and walk over the shop to get food, if its raining they come to us !

Sausage chips and beans for dinner nice and simple and we have the shopping being delivered tonight so will need to put that away. I will do a wash tonight and get it on the airer.

Thanks for the good wishes re my mum she is doing really well, amazing how quickly you can bounce back after an op.

Elona hope you are ok, how is your dd doing (the one that was in hospital ? ) hope all going well xx

Hilstep hugs to you hope you are coping xx

Have good days all xx

    Morning everyone.

It's very grey and wet here. The forecast for today is just awful so I will be happy to stay indoors. I have to wait in this morning anyway as SSE should be calling to change my meter from E7 to a standard one, and to put it lower, I can't see it!

Last night's session was really good, we all enjoyed inserting pictures and changing them.

My time will be spent doing done more if my online course, watching last nights Inspector George Gently and some reading. I want some eggs but the rain is so bad I'm not going to walk the 400 yards to the farmers front door.

I hope everyone has a good day and thoughts to those who need a little boost.

    Morning from me too.

I was up at the crack of dawn (well almost) catching up on the jobs I didn't do yesterday. I'd just had enough yesterday and downed tools.:D

I am at a loss, ive broken my reading glasses I washed them with the laundry yesterday by accident. I'm mortified because until I can replace them I cant read anything. Ive warned the kids not to send me messages on my phone cause I cant read them. :o Ive told them to either ring me or email me.:rotfl:

Theres a black hole somewhere in my house where things disappear into. Ive lost count at the amount of things ive lost over the last few months and the arm of my glasses seem to have disappeared into that black hole along with my Grandsons' cup, two plates, my favourite comb and the tin opener.....for goodness sake the cup was full! My neat and organized home is still not neat and organized enough so it seems.:( I must try harder.

Caught a dog with her snout in the bag of dog food this morning I guess she wont need breakfast this morning.

    Onwards and forwards,

    have a great day all.

Good morning, and a lovely morning it is (sorry Gers), I just hope it lasts.

Taking DGD2 to the orthodontist first thing this morning and then on to school. I have to buy a 40th birthday card for my niece, and then home.

Have some washing in the machine at he moment, so will put that out before we go.

Elona, how are you my lovely? Take things steady, and I know there will be some paper work to change over but in your own time.

BB I hope you manage to sort your BG out, and they find out why it is so high. Have you been fighting some sort of infection, I know it affects mine. Also up until I had radiotherapy I was able to control mine with diet but afterwards had to go onto Metformin. I mentioned to GP but he didn't think it had anything to do with it, but I am not so sure.

Hugs to anyone who needs one

    Have a good day

    Good morning everyone :hello:

I had a better night with Max last night as he only needed to get up for a quick toilet break and then he went back in his crate and settled really well. I stayed up and watched a very interesting program on tissue donation and then went back to bed and managed to sleep till 6am so that was fab.

Hubby has gone off to work very happy as it's his last day until next Tuesday so he gets a break and a proper opportunity to play with the puppy. The girls have all gone to school ok as well. I am very very hopeful that my best friend in the world will be coming to see me today. Her daughter texted me to warn me that she was coming to see her and then would probably be at mine later. I haven't seen her for over 6 months and there has been some massive changes in her life so I'm very much looking forward to catching up.

I'm going to get a takeaway for tea so no cooking today. I caught up with all the washing yesterday and put it away this morning so that's done. The bathroom has had a clean as well so that's about it. I may run the hoover around just so Max gets used to it. He seems pretty bomb-proof as he doesn't mind the hairdryer noise or kids screaming etc.

Speaking of screaming, that was me yesterday as I let him have a play in the garden and he was throwing something around in the grass. I didn't have my glasses on so couldn't make out what it was until he came closer and I saw it was a very deceased mouse. Aaaargh, you have never seen me move so fast. He dropped it thank goodness and my DD13's friend came over and disposed of it. I was nearly sick, I can't cope with dead things at all.

Well with that lovely image I shall leave it there, hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx

    Morning All

Cloudy and dull here, rain on the way. No washing today, rushed round and got it all done yesterday, even got DD to strip her bed, all washed, dried and both sets back on the bed (no ironing!).

RR - Glad your Mum is recovering quickly.
LW - Sounds like you are enjoying having your visitor.
Judi - Hope you get sorted with the glasses soon!
dumpling - Max sounds like fun, enjoy his company.

In-service day today so will get lots done without the children there! Meeting friends after work too, should be a good day.

    Take care. XX

    Good morning everyone!

It's a lovely morning here too (sorry Gers) but the washing didn't manage to finish before I left for work so I'll have to go home at lunch time and put it out.

Had a lovely evening yesterday as we went to buy all of the things we need to make our wedding invitations. I'm going to try and get as much done now as possible so that I can enjoy it all leading up to the day. I won't be sending them out for a while but at least they'll be ready.

Max sounds lovely dumpling, can you post a picture of the bundle of joy?

Judi, I feel your pain on the glasses front, I hope you get something sorted soon!

And to all of you who have a little sadness in your life lots of love and good karma is being sent your way.

Meeting the vicar this evening to go through everything for the wedding and make sure everything's okay. Hopefully I'll manage to give the house a dust before I we go, was up early steam mopping the floor this morning.

Have a lovely day all xx

Good Morning chums ,beautiful day here in the Garden of England (sorry Gers )and the forecast isn't too bad either .

Just looked at my emails and my little chat with EDF paid off I have a cheque for a refund coming my way for £251.98 :):):):) Milder winter and careful about the heating (I put an extra jumper on instead of the heating if its not that cold)
In fact I spent more on the electric than I did on the gas last year, so I will think of ways to cut that down a bit this year:):):)

Mick -the-gardener is due this morning and he will let me know how much my new back garden alterations will cost. I have three steps down from the conservatory to the patio, and they are crumbling away so he is going to replace with a ramp for me and a new hand rail as the other one is getting quite rickety. So my EDF refund will come in quite handy I think :):):)

Time for my 'morning mile' now
have a good day what ever you are doing

  • Good Morning everyone it's a lovely day here too (Sorry GERS!) and I've just been up to open up the polytunnel and greenhouse without a long sleeved top for the first time this year, no wind and lovely and warm.

I'm off to the library today to take back a couple of books before I go off to DD1 for the weekend, He Who Knows is out with than hound and his tooth (or lack thereof) isn't giving him any problems and is only a little sore so all to the good. I'll call in at the greengrocer for a few bits and then walk home in the sunshine which will be very nice and I can see if the elderflowers are in bloom (They were just starting last week) and if so I'll go and gather in enough for a batch of elderflower cordial on Monday when I'm back home. Love the stuff, it's the taste of summer.

Have yourselves a good day everyone, Lyn xxx.

Lovely bright day here, it makes a welcome change from the rain we have had all week :)

We are going shopping when DH gets home from work, so I have been through the cupboards, fridge and freezer and I really don't need much :j

candlelight, it has been going up steadily since September last year, the hospital have said that my pancreas is not working that is why I have been put on insulin.
I did have flu a couple of weeks ago so that really spiked it.
They are also not happy that I have lost my appetite either :(
So I have weekly hospital visits until they find out what is going on. I have another hab1c in a couple of weeks and have to one every three months.

((((Hugs)))) to Elona and Hilly, thinking of you both xxx

Jackie well done on getting your money back from EDF :T

His nibs has just walked in so I am offski

Kongs dropped on feet – ouch! Scampi brings his to me when he's managed to get the treat out, and wants to play ball with it – except because it's not an actual ball (the only thing he'll bring back to me when I've thrown it), I'm expected to go to him to fetch it :rotfl:

dumpling Max sounds great, got any pics? :D

I had a lie-in, I woke up just before 8am. Instead of lying there and waking up properly, I jumped up thinking “chickens... dog.... bin day... why isn't anyone else up?” lol. Mr tru was downstairs but the chickens were still locked away, Scampi's water and food bowls were empty and there was much barking. He'd put the bins out last night. Just as well I usually wake up early.

We have four broody chickens, which is causing loud squawky arguments in the shed :D One of them is coming out of it now, another should follow in about week's time so hopefully they'll start calming down. I filled their waterer, picked it up and the handle broke off, causing a split along the top. The vacuum was lost so it's useless, I've been filling seed trays with water for them for now. There's always at least one chicken who decides to scratch next to the trays and fill them with bark, I'm sure they do it on purpose to watch me go up and down the garden, rinsing and refilling :D

The programmer stopped working on the cooker, the main oven won't work without it but the other two will so we've ordered a new part. It's very annoying, we've only just replaced the element.

Can I go back to bed?!! :rotfl:

On the plus side, the shopping was delivered yesterday and it included chocolate. I'll be eating it today :D
