Problem with goods bought on Credit Card

Situation is that last November I purchased a new Hot Tub & we are having problems with it & with the retailer.
We paid 2 payments via our Credit Card about a week apart of £3000 each time ( £3000 being the max on the card ) BUT we also paid the balance in cash.
Now I believe that if you purchase goods using a credit card then if there is a problem with the goods I can go back to the Credit Card company for some kind of "claim" ???
If so is there a proper name for this ?
Would it cover us in this situation were we paid 2 payments on the card & also paid for part in cash ?
Is there a limit to the value of the goods ?

How do I go about it ?
Many thanks
