Confused about Maintenance Loan

Options
I have previously studied for a degree course, but didn't finish the course. At first my local Education Authority refused to provide me with any form of funding, but I wrote a letter explaining why I hadn't completed the degree and provided evidence from the university I had attended.

I have now received a letter stating that I will receive no tuition fee loan but that I will receive a maintenance loan:

Basic loan: £4735.00
Plus loan subject to income assessment: £1680.00
Total - £6415.00

I will be living at home in London, does this figure look 'right'? Has a mistake been made, i.e. that they think I'll be living away from home?

I have no idea, can anyone help here?

Looking at the student finance site:

    Loan rates - Maximum available

Students living away from parents' home and studying in:
    London £6315
    Elsewhere £4510
    Overseas £5375

Students living at their parents' home:
    London or elsewhere £3495

So yep it looks like they've assessed you as living away from home - not sure where the extra £100 has come from either! :)

I would let them know, as they will try and take it back once they work out the mistake! Best never to receive the money than have to pay it back!

It all depends on your circumstance. Becuase I apply for the full loan (outside of London) and don't get anywhere near that £4150 figure. I think I get roughly about £750 less than that.

I'm from a very low income background. Very very very low.

People studying in London get more because everything's more expensive there, like accommodation etc I think :)

Psychobot, that doesnt matter. As long as you are below a certain point everyone gets the same.

Ok, well - I've written my LEA a letter explaining that I am living at home. Hopefully they'll sort everything out quickly.

The extra £100 is probably because the course is longer than the usual and you get extra money per week extra over the norm.
