Income support unfairly treated?

Maybe the OP just needs to tell her Advisor that until the meetings are compulsory, she won't be attending any more ?0

Thank you for your reply this was just the answer I was looking for!!!
I apologise to anyone who found my post whiney or got affended this was not my intention.
To clear things up with those who are asking about work I would like to make things clear that I have been in employment since 3rd day of leaving school and got made redundant a month before finding out about my ppregnancy. When I contacted jobcentre after spending my redundancy on travellering to and from interviews 2 months later they said they couldn't help me and I am not intitaled to anything, I find it ironic how now they are trying to put me back into work now I have responsibilities and would like to bring up my daughter instead of put her into local nurseries which I have previously done placements in which treat babies and children disgustingly, force feeding shouting in there face ect. Regarding my daughters father he unfortunately passed away 5 months into my pregnancy, so no he is not an financial option for us.
Thank you all for your replies to my thread0 -
I trust you reported these nurseries that apparently treat children disgustingly?
You are aware that you will not be able to stay at home with your child forever?0 -
Hi there, yes I did file a complaint however no further action was taken against the nursery as the same staff seem to still be working there. I am totally aware of that situation I will be more than happy to return to work and put her into nursery schooling whichever you'd like to call it when she is aware of the right from wrongs, most of the children at the local nurseries think this is the normal way to be treated as they haven't told parents about it. Quite sad to think this is happening really...0

Its an unfortunate fact that if you are on benefits no matter how much you have paid in and no matter what circumstances led you to claim you no longer have the luxury to do the things you would like to do, sorry if this sounds harsh but that's the reality of the benefits system, I am afraid you will have to find work and put your child in childcare and I think you need to accept that0 -

Are you talking about one nursery or are you saying that all the nurseries in your area are seemingly abusing the children in their care?0 -
If nurseries are as bad a s you say, how about trying to find a childminder local to you.
You will not have any choice whether you work or not if you want to have a better life for yourself and your child.
Try using your time to find suitable work and childcare and things will start to look up for you.0 -

For goodness sake!
Have you not read the legislation as regards income support for lone parents.
Requirement to undertake work-related activity
2.—(1) The Secretary of State may require a person who satisfies the conditions in paragraph (2) to undertake work-related activity(1) as a condition of continuing to be entitled to the full amount of income support payable apart from these Regulations.
(2) The conditions referred to in paragraph (1) are that the person—
(a)is entitled to income support;
(b)is subject to a requirement imposed under section 2A of the Social Security Administration Act 1992;
(c)is not a lone parent(2) of a child under the age of 3; and
(d)falls within paragraph 1(1) of Schedule 1B to the Income Support (General) Regulations 1987(3) and no other paragraph within that Schedule.
(3) A requirement imposed under paragraph (1)—
(a)must be reasonable in the view of the Secretary of State, having regard to the person’s circumstances; and
(b)may not require the person to apply for a job or undertake work, whether as an employee or otherwise. (End quote)
The regulations have changed so that lone parents now have to do work related activities once their child becomes 3 years old.
There is no compulsion to find a job.
Whether you agree with the benefit system's rules or not please give the correct information rather than your personal point of view.
I think this board is getting so judgemental. It is a real shame. So difficult for anyone to find out the correct information as it gets buried in a load of self opinionated and judgemental posts.0 -
There is only 2 nurseries in my area as we're in a rural village and I have done a placement in both, I currently do unpaid administration work for my mum as she is self employed and as we're still living with her however this covers the cost for our rent, so would also have to take into consideration this onto of outstanding child care fees I imagine private childminders are quite expensive would I even get help towards this or is it only nurserys0
