Wedding dress was dirty when she got it home

My daughter bought a wedding dress from a specialist shop. Cost just under 2 grand. We paid half and the other half was due when she picked it up 6 months later. In the meantime she decided on a different dress and was to sell the original.
When the original dress arrived at the shop they were aware that she was going to sell it so it wasn't unwrapped till she got home. When she did there was marks on the underskirt. It was also very large, but it wasn't made to measure and was going to need taking in.
The shop took the dress back and said they would replace the underskirt or professionally clean it.
I know she was planning to sell it but do you feel she would have been entitled to her money back? I don't think it would have felt as special if she had kept it to wear.
Cheers x

Wouldn't it be in the shop's T&Cs? The dress was not provided in a fit state but they've offered to remedy the situation so my guess would be she wouldn't be entitled to her money back as this dress would have been made specifically for her.
I'm just speculating though - hopefully someone more knowledgeable will come alongGood luck!

Did she order the dress from a catalogue or was it a shop display? If it was ordered in and they've offered to replace the skirt then she won't be able to claim a refund. Some dresses come with detachable underskirts which can be a quick fix to replace, so they won't give her the money back, when it can be easily remedied.
If it was a should display - goes without saying really, there will be marks.
Hope she loves her new choice and she manages to sell this one promptly.0 -
