Quiet time at work - what do you do?

Well, if you're working 12-14hr days and have 'quiet time' you're struggling to fill, I'd suggest going home occasionally0

I have plenty of spare time at work, its one of the perks of being able to delegate the majority of my work. Mostly these days I sit in meetings, then tell people what they need to do and by when.0

If was on the bench I'd be doing some online training courses and exams, reading up on industry trends and news, then talking to my line manager and others to see what needs doing - especially if anyone else is busy!0

It rarely happens, my job usually involves working at breakneck speed, trying to get through the most urgent tasks without going too far over the deadlines.
But when things are quieter I: work at a 'normal' pace, actually take some of my (one hour unpaid) 'lunch break' by eating my lunch and going for a short walk. I also catch up on the backlog of non-urgent tasks that are always there and do a bit of the background reading/study that I'm always trying to do to improve my skills in my job.[FONT="][FONT="] Fighting the biggest battle of my life.Started 30th January 2018.

I've found that Continental Europe are more family focussed than us, and so many European manufacturers completely shut down for a week or two during Summer and Christmas.
It can be rather quiet during this period for us. I use the opportunity to clean up records, check records, review/improve procedures and provide training.
I personally believe that people who says things like "I wish I had spare time" are generally (there are exceptions) people who like others think that their busy and important, when actually they are just cr4p at their jobs, disorganised and generally inefficient.0 -

Seems a tad unfair? I personally believe that most people who say "I wish I had spare time" are generally working for performance driven organisations that expect a great deal in return for something quite less. I find these organisations are cr4p at valuing its employees, strategically disorganised and generally inefficient.0 -

I did say there were exceptions ;o) I'm sure people who work at Call Centres (Contact centre or what ever tosh name they have now) won't have any spare time due to unfair and unrealistic sale targets. Which just leads to further annoyance of customers that makes us all hate them with a passion.0 -
