Changing the frequency of which I pay my staff.

    You can certainly do that. Another question would be how far in advance / arrears you work things out, and whether you can flex that to make the arrangement less difficult to implement.

    For example, I finalise payroll mid-month for payment at the end of the month. Some of our staff have on call payments, and I pay those at the end of the month AFTER the one in which they've done the on call. I could work it from the rota, but sometimes they do swaps.

    When I had staff on zero hours, I did the same: if they worked in May they wouldn't be paid until the end of June.

    Presumably you do your payroll closer to pay date than I have to, but looking at that kind of thing may make the new arrangements easier to 'sell' to existing staff.
