Our female cat chases foxes away. She is completely fearless. Its very amusing watching a fox 3 times her size in a complete panic trying to jump back over the fence.

A few years ago I watched BBC nature programme about urban foxes in Bristol (I think). If I remember correctly, they said on there that the biggest killer of urban foxes were wounds sustained following territorial disputes with cats.

I had no problem with foxes in my garden when I had a cat.

Apparently human urine (male) deters them. If the men of the household are willing to pee in bottles and pour that along the boundaries it may help. (of course, of your garden is private they may be able to just pee directly along the boundaries ..

Thanks for all slightly (un)helpful comments.

I'm genuinely intrigued with the male urine idea. Might even kill two birds with one stone when not having the energy to go to the bathroom during the night..
