Damp and vaping

Seeing the thread about smoking reminded me of a situation a friend is in.
She and her partner are living in a house that we once lived in. At the time, there was a problem with damp in a couple of places, one of them being a patch on the bedroom wall where the damp was coming in from outside. It caused the paint to bubble up, but we had no mould issues.
She's told me that they have really bad mould that's got into their wardrobe and she's had to chuck out a load of clothes.
Now, as we had no problems, I'm wondering if the fact that both her and her partner vape is causing the problem. Her partner takes really big lugs and exhales huge clouds. I saw a picture from a vaping convention the other day and the hall looked like it was full of fog.
So, do you think vaping is causing the mould?

If there was already a problem with damp when you lived there, then I doubt it's the vaping that's causing the problem. Think how much steam is released when you boil a kettle - that doesn't tend to cause problems and I wouldn't thought vaping could release more moisture than that.0

Your guess is as good as ours! I vaporise and my home is 100% dry, so I'm skeptical it's the vaping.
I'd imagine the existing damp has worsened somewhat or that they're drying clothes indoors or not properly ventilating the place after someone's had a bath or shower. That'd cause a lot more lingering damp than vaping ever will.0 -

Lol, you haven't seen the amount he blows out! It's definitely more than a kettle and it's pretty constant too. He doesn't vape like smoking a cigarette where you take a puff every now and then until the ciggie is finished, he vapes constantly. He's like a steam train!
All that moisture's got to go somewhere.0 -
Do they open windows or have adequate ventilation when they cook, shower, hang laundry indoors, etc? All of these will contribute to humidity and mould - alongside the vaping.0

Its not the vaping, not that I do it, but i know science.

Vaping refills are only 20ml of fluid, its just that the vape pen makes it VERY visable.
For comparision, a person, just by being in a building and breathing, puts out around 3-500ml of water per day in thier breath alone, never mind thier sweat.
so the vape pen, while putting out moisture, is insignificant in the grand scheme of things.

There is a known damp problem. Damp problems, if ignored, tend to get worse.
the solution is to cure the damp problem. Why is the bedroom wall damp? There is always a reason:
* leaking roof gutter above that wall
* damaged downpipe outside
* damaged pointing on the external wall
* insufficient internal ventilation combined with excess condensation from showers, washing/drying clothes indoors etc
Identify the cause and cure it.0 -
Thanks everyone for the replies. I was curious if the vaping would have an effect. It looks like it's probably a combination of things. I don't know if they've told the landlord about it getting worse.
We lived in that house for 5 years and in that time the damp didn't seem to get any worse and as I said, we had no problems with mould.0 -
Ah! It's a rented property.
Did you report the damp to the landlord, in writing, at the address provided? What was the response? Since it appears the damp was not sorted, what further action did you take?
Has the new tenant reported the damp to the landlord, in writing, at the address provided? What was the response? How long ago?0
