Student Accoount..poor credit?!

Hi, I'm going to university as a mature student in september and have been seeing about getting a student bank account for the very helpful overdrafts..... only problem is that my credit score currently lies at about 597 and I'm rated as 'poor' and a high risk lender. any accounts I've applied for have been refused! all applications were done online, do you think it would be more successful if i went into a branch and talked to the bank manager face to face?

Have you tried Llyods TSB by any chance? I was in the same position as you last year.0

I did try Lloyds, with no luck... did you apply online or in the branch? I suppose asking at your local branch is 'good business' for them and maybe less stringent than just an online assesment?0

I went into the branch in Sheffield (as i go to uni there) - I don't live there. Perhaps they are more target driven to open as many student accounts as possible? I would personally go and organise a meeting with them, as you can open it straight away. Good luck!:beer:0
