Help with parking charge

I received a parking charge in January this year from UK parking control at Gallagher retail park Dundee. I forgot to put a ticket on my car, was in one shop for 20 minutes and received a charge of £100.
I have ignored several letters - last charge was £160.
I have now received a letter offering reduced payment offering a reduced payment of £128 or I may be taken to court and my credit rating would be affected.
I am now unsure what to do.
Can anyone please advise?

yes, read the NEWBIES sticky thread a few threads above this one

pay particular attention to the SCOTLAND issue

    then IGNORE (for 5 years)

ps:- debt collectors have no powers to take you to court, plus in scotland there is no keeper liability

As this is Scotland you should continue to ignore their kind offer. There is no appeal route in Scotland. Furthermore only the driver is liable so if they don't know who the driver was they will struggle to get anything.

Yes - you IGNORE them totally in Scotland.

Te Newbies sticky will set you straight about UKPC and debt collectors in general.

Also be aware that a few people have reported getting phone calls from debt collectors acting for UKPC in Scotland - Again, these guys can't do a thing and need to be told firmly to cease and desist. Despite their claim to the contrary, they have no powers whatsoever - but to be safest, do not identify any drivers to them. :)

I have continued to ignore all letters but I have now received a letter from Zenith collections offering a reduced figure of £80 to avoid "the possible necessity and expense of court action.

Does anyone know why this has been passed to a different company?

The case has been passed from one desk to the next in the same office. DR+ and Zenith are one and the same.

For more confidence in dealing with (ignoring) this, please read the NEWBIES FAQ sticky, post #4.

The longstanding advice for Scotland is IGNORE. You are not ignoring things!
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

It's fear tactics. People see debt collectors and are panicked into paying.

There is a sticky thread at the front of the forum known as The Newbies thread as it asks all Newbies to read it. It contains nearly ever FAQ you can think of including a section about debt collectors.
