Entering and Exiting Car Park on CCTV - Parking notice

Hi

I have been sent a parking notice from a private company Smart Parking. I had no notice put on my windscreen at the time.

I had purchased a 2 hours pay and display ticket, which I returned back in time that was displayed on the ticket, but the time I entered the car park and exited on their CCTV was 2 hours 12 mins. Can this be challenged? What was the point in giving a time on the display of the ticket I purchasedif that was not the time to go by?
I don’t have the display ticket now as evidence as received the parking notice a week later
Thanks in advance

It most certainly can be challenged! :)

Have a good read of the Newbies Sticky at the top of this forum - that has all the most current info on how private tickets operate and your various avenues for seeing them-off.

Write to Trading Standards Office, (Weights and Measures) complaining that cameras used for the collection of monies are incorrectly calibrated .

    Agree with bod1467.

Your appeal should state just that. The signs offer 2 hours parking. It clearly took you some time from entering to find a space, to read the t&c and then to leave. 12 minutes is not an unreasonable time for that and if they choose to dispute it, then you will base any court defence on that.
