    I'm not even sure I was given the form, They kept me on file after I left and paid me for not being there so it doesnt sound like they did.

    There is no point bothering now about the details of what happened except that you do appear to have had a payroll dept in your first job that was a bit slap-dash. The danger is that the end of year return just might include earnings that you have paid back so when you eventually hear from HMRC check the figures they send, if in any doubt put them on here.

    I suspect that they probably did but the OP has forgotten. Judging from the tax code used (emergency code)they appear to have followed the correct procedure for no P45.
