That's what MOT tester said in moment after test when I was asking about failures and ABS light, what it meant, he was starting a retest of another car, he came out as I was quizzing another gut at reception.salubrious wrote: »A split reluctor ring should have failed the mot
Maybe it wasn't split, just bad condition and he said it wrong.
If it was split I'm sure he would have put it down as fail.
Would badly corroded ABS reluctor ring cause brake judder ?

Yes, it's almost definitely not judder per se, it's the ABS activating because it's getting a false signal from one or more corners of the car. A split means the notches in the ring don't pass the hall-effect sensor at the same rate as a non-split ring, so the ABS 'thinks' the wheel is turning at a different speed, and hence activates to control the problem.0 -
Would a corroded ring cause this or just a split ring ?BeenThroughItAll wrote: »Yes, it's almost definitely not judder per se, it's the ABS activating because it's getting a false signal from one or more corners of the car. How do you tell which corner has a problem or just change any that look dodgy ?0
