Lost my car for a few weeks, been with the company for 3 years never struggled getting into work. we work bank holidays, the week I have been car sharing to get in however the driver is now off next week.
I am now expected to get 3 buses and a train to work and 3 buses and a train to go home leaving my house at 7am to arrive at work for 10am. and then leaving work at 7.30pm to arrive home at 00:30. (wait time)
my boss simply said he has no sympathy for me. ? It also costs £15 each way in a taxi and am on min wage I wonder if their are any help with this?
At 6.6 miles, you could walk it in half the time it would take by public transport.0 -
Why do you think your employer would be OK with you taking leave at short notice? Especially when someone else (you car sharing colleague) is also off.
Your employer employs you to work at his convenience and not yours - I don't understand how you can't see this.

Would it be possible to book holiday or swop shifts with a colleague, as an alternative? Otherwise I would suggest cycling or hiring a car/taxi0

If you go the bike option, do a trial run over the weekend to check the route and get an idea of how long it'll take. I'm unfit so if it were me I'd probably need twice as long as Google suggests. More if there's hills! All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

I only get my bike out every now and again, and that's only to go up and down the road a bit. So 6mls sounds a long way, but i'd give it a go. And i'd be glad most of the journey was on back paths away from busy traffic.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,

I understand that its my problem at the end of the day its just Ive never been in this situation before. I am buying a cheap £300 runaround next week but min wage and to get £300 is about 2 weeks for me.
I wont have £300 until 2 weeks. I have been their for 3 years I like my job and I have been a good asset to them considering the compliments I have gained and customers feedback but for them to not allow my leave for 1 week as its "short notice" I only found out yesterday the guy I share with is off next week.
I totally understand its my problem but I just find it hard they can expect me to still get to workwhen considering I haven't got my car wasn't exactly my plan and something I could control.
weekly taxi rate sounds like a good idea I will plan that tomorrowDon't trust a forum for advice. Get proper paid advice. Any advice given should always be checked0 -
If you were such an asset they would pay more than minimum wage, you work for pay not praise.I do Contracts, all day every day.0
