Fidelity Investments Problem

  • I have Fidelity account too and agree that it is a pain that secure confirmation messages do not contain details of the funds bought / sold.
When I talk to their helpdesk, they have no difficulties working out the funds involved, so why not simply make this information available somewhere on the internet account? This will save time and make things easier for both sides.

Fortunately I never had the problems you described (thought you bought fund A but actually bought fund B) - my problems mainly trades not taking place on days I expect.
I would advice taking screenshots of trades before pressing the submit button. You will have something to fall back on if this occurs again.

You can see what funds and how much you are buying on Page 2 of the 'Key Features' PDF they say to keep a copy of. You can also print/print to PDF the confirmation page you see after you submit the order.
  • That PDF file cannot be downloaded if you move to another screen. Why not make it available when you lig in later?
I know platform charge is cheaper than HL so.must not complain too much.

I agree that their website could be much better and I don't know why they can't make the information available for later download, but you do have to tick a box that confirms you have read both documents and saved/printed a copy for your records before you confirm the order. The order confirmation page also shows you what funds and how many units you have bought/sold/switched and they give you a link to print a copy of that, too.
