Why the rush to report them when you think it may be a mistake.
Sounds like you have to axe to grind here. An agenda.
I'm sure you don't intend to give that impression so I'd clarify the situation first.
I do have a bit of an axe to grind, in as much as I don't like unfairness and I think it is unfair for people to be excluded from applying for a job for what might be illegal reasons. Whether or not it is a mistake is irrelevant. Organisations employ HR professionals to prevent this sort of mistake.
I note that they have removed the drop-down question about being a Christian from all of their advertised roles now.0 -
What difference does that make?missbiggles1 wrote: »4 out of 5 of those are from the Old Testament.0 -

I would simply report this to 0808 800 0082 and let the EHRC sort it out. Discriminating against non-Christians in a job which cannot defend faith as a genuine occupational need is direct discrimination on the basis of religion, and likely to be indirect racial discrimination as well......Ex board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).0

Firstly, you'll find their ethnic background wouldn't by that of typical white-European Jewry (and I'm fully aware of the range of ethnic diversity within the Jewish community; but in the UK it still does tend to be white-European/Ashkenazi)missbiggles1 wrote: »How could you possibly tell that?
Either way.. this is unrelated to the original discussion.0 -

It's there on the job I looked at and refused to let me apply unless I answered "yes".
I came across this sort of discrimination years ago when I applied for a Classroom Assistant job in a Catholic school. Had an informal interview, starting date was discussed, and then she thought to check that I was catholic. When I said no, she said she didn't think the headmaster would employ me then. He didn't, I complained and he denied that anything like that had been said. So these wonderful catholics lied!0 -

And yet many self-professed christians use it as the basis for their bigotry. Do we have a definitive answer as to whether it's the word of god or not?missbiggles1 wrote: »The Old Testament has the laws for Judaism, not Christianity.0 -
Try getting a job in a Muslim run/owned fast food joint if you're a Christian.0

Probably because despite religious charities' claims of pure altruism, the motivation is usually to spread the word. They can't have anyone going in missing an opportunity to increase the flock.KJBlackwood wrote: »Thanks for the replies. I'm interested to see their reply as to how the "genuine occupational requirement" applies to this role as a programme facilitator at a prison.0
