    It is indeed strange the way people think that banks should "justify" an interest rate change by reference to a borrower's credit history.

    I can understand the annoyance as no one likes to see any rate/fee hikes, even if it doesnt effect them. I would want to be treated special. but sadly, as other have mentioned, there is a good chance they just want to try and increase their profits. and they cant just purely do that to the people who are actually paying the interest or then they would have to explain why they have targeted just those people... although defend-able, they must be seen to "be treating customers fairly".

    On another note I guess you have to look at the fact that you are getting a benefit from the card , if you werent then you would have instantly walked away. Take a look at the rates on various "rewards" credit cards, lots are around the 40% mark!
