N-Power

Hi

I thinking of switching my current gas and electric supply to n-power. I've currently got my gas with British Gas and electric with SWALEC (I live in Cardiff). I've had a look at some of the price comprasion sites and would like some advice wheither or not anyone would recommend N-Power.

Thanks

    Hi Rob
I switched to npower 18 months ago because like you I found them to be the cheapest on the switching sites. However that did not last long because they were continually bringing out new tariffs (cheaper) to attract new customers whilst leaving existing customers on the more expensive ones. An example is that during this years price reductions my electricity did not reduce at all!
I am now thinking of changing to Atlantic which is cheaper than my current npower price, but another disadvantage is that npower effectively tie you in for a year by only paying the £80 direct debit/dual fuel bonus at the end of the year.
    Hope this helps.

It would be hard to find any adequate superlatives to describe NPower - 13 months of hassle, billing me for previous tenants, sending threats of court actions, telling me my address did not exist despite having billed me and previous tenants, saying that the premises were 'unsafe to enter' which is my favourite, denying receiving 2 recorded delivery letters, denying receipt of 5 emails, never ever phoning back, - I spent 7 hours on the phone with them earlier this week and things are still not resolved - I will be leaving asap.

By the way the people in the flat above me warned me when I moved in that they had had the same nightmare - just to let you know that I don't think I am the only one having these experiences with them.

I guess you have to see what other people think and then make a decision.

    best wishes

    Switch to Npower....well

If you had asked me 12 months ago I would have promoted them as very very good, however...the day I got a price increase letter, I received a knock at my door from Scottish power and decided to move to their pricing before it was far cheaper...

even so I felt a good service i'd had

However 6 months on, after they took final readings and gave me a refund they wanted £94 back, saying that they had new meter readings and they wanted their money

When I asked why the new meter reading no one could tell me, they then approached scottish powere with totally different meter reading again????and then threatened to take me to court this week for not paying up

Although I had been told by two different people it was a mistake and they would sort it out.

Now having contacted the energy wtach and passed over to their immediate team, I was promised a call that day and low and behold nothing not a dicky bird

Finally got a letter to say they were still investigating

so although I think British gas are worse, and Npower have really $%&ed me off, I think they are probably all as bad as each other, so

try and save the most money and hope that nothing goes wrong

    Hi,

All these companies are the same. Energywatch gets the same complaints about them all.

The best thing to always do is to protect yourself by taking readings whenever you move in/out or change supplier in case they estimate. Then supply a reading each quarter & insist they use it. This will make your estimates accurate.

They have many happy customers, but you won't hear from them like any business. Just protect yourself as above and you can avoid these electric/gas bunders...
