Amazon third-party seller is a joke

I have order an item from amazon and that was from a third-party seller , the item received and was not working , contacted amazon for a return and they have sent me the details so I've sent it back to them via royal mail first class recorded .
I went on holiday around the xmass period and forgot a bout it , then realized that no refund has been made , contacted amazon and they said this has nothing to do with them they need to contact the seller .
the funny part is that the seller said they have received the item but they still asked me to chase down royal mail , which was confusing , then we contacted them again and they said they have not received the item , I better check with royal mail .
royal mail said they have no record for this item after it has initially been processed , and since it has been over 90 days they can't issue a refund for me .
Amazon keep washing there hands out of it and refusing to issue me a refund as this is a third-party seller item , and the seller refusing to issue a refund cause they never received the item .
from my experience I strongly suggest that no one buy a third-party seller item from amazon or they will basically get no support from them , and the best they can do to you is to tell you " they are sorry "
but in the end you will be the only one paying for it , as amazon , the third-party seller and royal mail did not lose a single penny out of it . such a pathetic system

Or buyers could simply return items and check on them within a reasonable time frame. It is not the seller's or Amazon's fault if the parcel was lost in the post and when using Royal Mail you agreed to their conditions. It really isn't unreasonable for them to expect you to contact them about it within 3 months.0

rach_k has a very good point David. The problems you've encountered stem from the fact that you 'forgot about it' until it was way too late for Amazon, the seller or the RM to do anything about it.
I use Amazon a lot and have bought many items from third party sellers and indeed have had to return one item for a refund and the system has always worked extremely well.0 -

Because of this?I better check with royal mail .

Seems like this is between you and RM, and ultimately if you do not chase up your affairs in a timely manner, no one else is responsible but you.
I´m a third party Amazon seller btw, and as many others do, try my best to maintain a good relationship with customers.
In this case IF I didn´t have record of your return, I would point you back to RM, case closed.0 -
I have had excellent service from two third party sellers, where goods arrived damaged.
Each was sent a photograph of the damage and neither equire the goods to be returned.
One sent me a replacement part, letting me keep the damaged one, which was still usable, though cracked and the other gave me a large refund for what was only slight damage to the edge of a glass table.0 -
I'm happy with the service I have received from third party Sellers in the UK. I ordered a DVD box set for my OH which was described as brand new still sealed and it arrived opened and with a visible scratch on the first disc. I worried it would be a nightmare to sort out- my word against theirs- but I emailed and got a lovely response back saying they sell a lot and must have sent the wrong one. They sent a new sealed one out the same day and told me to take the opened one to a charity shop.

It's pretty clear you returned the item to Amazon instead of the sellerseller (might as well have sent it to PayPal)
Having no knowledge of the item and no contract Amazon probably just binned itit and the actual settler never received it
You left it so long both parties forgot about it
So you have not much grounds for complaint to eitherWhen will the "Edit" and "Quote" button get fixed on the mobile web interface?0 -

In this particular case everything seems to have timed out. I'm a bit peeved that the OP thinks that all sellers on Amazon (of which I'm one) should be punished because he forgot to check earlier.
You will get the odd poor third party seller on Amazon but they do get weedled out a lot quicker than on Ebay. I'd suggest that with the strict customer service Amazon imposes on sellers it is one of the best marketplaces to buy from..0
