Deflation, deflation, deflation

What we're seeing isn't deflation yet or probably at all. It's a one off repricing downwards of commodities, most likely in anticipation of US interest rate rises.
I negotiated a pay rise in April and deflation has been mentioned in passing on a few occasions to soften me up. I said deflation is a persistent reduction in prices rather than a one-off repricing of, mainly, oil so wasn't really relevant in pay rise terms.
Got 4% - thanks Gen. Enjoy the stew.0 -
Personally, I think he should make Cider with those Apples before they go bad 'In nature, there are neither rewards nor punishments - there are Consequences.'0

I'm referring to the costs of distribution is dramatically reduced.
However please pedantically give a specific example you are referring to:wall:
What we've got here is....... failure to communicate.

Cheers. Congrats on the 4.1% (real terms) pay rise.
The stew was very good apart from a couple of stray rosemary leaves.0 -

As a public sector worker who has only received one pensionable pay rise in 5/6 years, does this news mean Gideon has a ready made excuse to give me s*d all again next year?“Britain- A friend to all, beholden to none”. 🇬🇧0 -

The days are gone when you sit around for people to give you pay rises. Go and find it for yourself, it's a dynamic jobs market. If you don't vote with your feat, your encouraging your own demise.Proudly voted remain. A global union of countries is the only way to commit global capital to the rule of law.0 -
I think we need a summary of terms :
Inflation - increase in prices
Deflation - reducing prices
Interest - money earned on capital
Disinterest - the result of any thread which bangs on about Scottish Independence for about 900 pages

Fuel is only one element of distribution costs if you wish to that pedantic. Efficiently managing a haulage/delivery fleet requires the vehicles to be carrying their maximum goods weight.0 -

A mindset that is taking hold in the public sector hence the lamentable retention rates in some roles.
I`m not sure that encouraging that sort of behaviour is healthy if we`re interested in quality public services though.“Britain- A friend to all, beholden to none”. 🇬🇧0 -
I booked a return flight to Australia on Singapore the other day - £750. I paid nearly double that two years ago and the price has been well over £1,000 every time I have flown that route (which is conveniently about once a year for the last 8 years). The @rse has fallen out of the price...0
