There is an item in The Times today suggesting that there is someone waiting in the wings to take over NR. I only have the 500 at flotation shares and am prepared to wait. Hope it comes good but don't like the idea of them being bought at something like the original price.0 -

What would this takeover mean for us? We also hold 1000 floatation shares.0 -

have u a link to the article, i only kept my NR shares in hope they would be taken over, saved me making the decision to sell, obv dammed if i did and dammed if i didnt.
NR like alliance and L are planning a share buyback which will reduce no of shares in circulation and therebye increase share price.
northern rock initiated the annual profits pledge to its charitable foundation to reduce its attractiveness to others.
i remember when northern rock share price previously slipped to near flotation value, wasnt long before it hit new highs again.0 -

I just read on the BBC that Northern Rock have gone for emergency funding... I thought the high interest rate was suspicious, now it turns out it was because they were running out of money so they wanted to get some mugs to invest theirs!
Anyway does anyone know what the situation would be I was to request the withdrawal of my savings and while waiting for the withdrawal to go through (which may take a while) Northern Rock was to collapse?
I understand that you get the 1st 30K or so back, but if you have more than that it could be a disaster, plus also I don't know how long it takes to get that 30K back from the Bank of England - I assume it must be a long painful process...0 -
oops i just saw there is another thread on it, but I didn't see it in the search because the name was spelt funny... sorry. but if anyone knows about the 30K thing, please let me know!0
