Anything I can do about previous tax years?

I think I posted in the wrong place. This is more suitable.
Am higher rate tax payer.
Last time I had to do a SA form was for 03/04 and declared savings interest.
Ever since, have received PAYE coding notices each year which contained adjustments for savings interest.
OH and I bank with Nationwide flex and associated e-savings. These accounts were originally in OH's name and turned joint in 2000 (or so we thought).
OH recently become non tax payer from being a basic rate tax payer so we decided to make all savings in OH's name. It turns out e-savings was never made joint.Only the current account was changed.
So I declared in 03/04 savings that really were never technically mine.
Obviously, I am going to write about the PAYE coding for this year but where do I stand for previous years and how do I go about claiming any refunds now that everything has been automated since 2004?

you can reclaim over paid tax at least 6 years
write to HMRC with the detail0 -
You need to write enclosing "section 352 certificate" for each year and savings account. If you do not have? It is very easy, you can ask NW for a dupplicate online."A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

PS: You will need to complete a claim for tax year when OH became a non-taxpayer. Make sure you ask for a form "R85" so that in future OH savings will be tax free. Again with NW you can do it online."A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

Thanks missile. OH has done R85 for this tax year. Never heard of section 352 certificate. Unless that's what banks send out each tax year stating gross/net interest?
I get one from Lloyds every year but never from NW e-savings as far as I recall. Will dig around first.
Pleased to help. 352 cert is what most banks sends you every year. Rather than rooting around looking, let NW do it for you. Sign into your account, click on other services
Print an R85 (tax exemption) form
