O/S Daily Tuesday 19th May 2015
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine

Morning everyone
Hilstep – sorry to hear your sad news, thinking of you and your family x
Judi - we have to sell at least one of the caravan awnings, as we had 5! The one we've just sold was actually included with the caravan we have at the moment, the people that won it on e*** got an absolute bargain, as it had hardly been used, we put it up once to photograph it and check it over ready to sell. We have a full size awning with annexe for proper holidays, which if the boys come with us they sleep in the annexe, then we have a 3/4 which is ideal if DH and I go away on our own, big enough to sit in etc, a thin nylon "bubble" which I think we're going to sell and then another "bubble" but made of proper awning material, that was the one that we previously had difficulty with but is now ok. We just seem to accumulate stuff!
Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x
Hugs and get well wishes to those that want/need them.
Now light, bright and sunny, air feels cool though. Everywhere seems to have dried up after yesterday’s rain.
DH up and gone to work stupid early. DS1 now getting ready for work. Will wake DS2 shortly, so he can get ready for school.
Dinner last night was roast chicken pieces, mash, carrots, broccoli, green beans and gravy, LO crumble and ice cream for the menfolk, I had some ice cream. Tonight’s dinner will be fish, chips and beans/veg for the menfolk, I’ll have fish, jacket potato and veg.
Wasn’t overly productive yesterday, although a couple of jobs that needed doing that I’d been putting off did get done. I also made a start on DS2’a bedroom, it’s a complete tip, but the upside of that was I found an M&* bag with a brand new t-shirt and pair of jeans in it – I’ve given the t-shirt to DS1 and DH tried the jeans on last night and they fit him. I had an online order that arrived yesterday afternoon, that is the wine, pop and orange juice for this weekend, we need to take that with us, as the outside bar want so much money for a bottle of wine, it’s too expensive, although they are providing the real ale in barrels and we’ll serve it from the temporary bar that will be set up with the proper pumps etc.
Today I will be washing, drying and ironing as found loads of clothes in all the mess in DS2’s room, most worn but not washed, so that’s one of today’s main jobs. Whilst in his room yesterday I found and sorted loads of books that he no longer wants, so they’re all boxed for our yard sale in a couple of weeks, if they don’t sell this time, they’re going to the charity shop, there’s loads of stuff in there that he says he no longer wants, so I’m rapidly filling black bin bags if it’s broken, or no good, or it’s being bagged up for the yard sale and charity shop.
I need to be more productive today than yesterday! I just couldn’t seem to settle to anything, hoping today will be better.
Keep safe and well x

Morning one and all. It's the calm before the storm here! Very black clouds above so rain must be imminent. We are forecast hail and thunder too for good measure. When are we going to have some nice warm sunshine!
Getting organised bright and early for our monthly visit to Oncology in Leeds. As always the waiting room will be packed and consultants running miles behind so book, drink and sustenance getting packed for the wait. It always ends up a long and tiring day. Will need to book a taxi shortly to take us to the train station.
Not planned what we are eating tonight because we may end up eating in Leeds before heading home. If not there is plenty in the freezer I can throw in the oven for a quick meal.
Have a good day all, take care and keep dry if you are getting the heavy rain. xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Morning All
Bright at the moment but the rain will start when I step out of the front door to go for the train! DD has a meeting in a really difficult to get to place on public transport so she's taking the car.
Washing just finished and about to go on the airer, safer than putting it outside, will open the greenhouse in a minute.
Not sure what's for tea, will have a look later. Hope you all have a good day. Take care. XX0 -
Morning everyone.
Half an hour ago the sky was bright and clear, now there are dark clouds gathering. Heavy rain is forecast.
TA - hope your Leeds visit is too stressful today. Hospital waiting rooms are dismal at the best of times.
Today I'm off to Helensburgh and may pop into the Hill House when there. It's the house which Charles Rennie Mackintosh designed for Blackie. Every room and its contents designed by him too. I find it a very restful place.
So it's breakfast and then get out on the road.
Hope everyone has a good day.0 -
Morning all
Sunny here right now but the rain has kept me awake most of the night
Off to work, finding it very stressful as we have a new boss and I think she is trying to make her presence felt. I did go and speak to her yesterday to say I prefer her to talk to me before implementing new working processes , I said we are a team and should be involved in decision process. Not sure how well it went down lol
Not sure what's for tea tonight , something quick I would imagine
Have a good day everyone xx0 -
Morning all,
Nice day here and supposed to be my day off I am so cross  I had booked the day off to take my mum to hospital for a small op and the lady covering me has phoned in sick she has a cold !! so bloody cross I have to go in now as otherwise the clients would be left alone which cannot happen, she knew today was important to me !! Oh well better get ready.
Huge hugs to Hillstep xx0 -
Good Morning everyone, we did have lovely sunshine first thing today but now we're cloudy and it looks like rain. Never boring with the weatyher in this country is it?
I have the joys of a dental check up this morning so have to get the early bus in to be there in time, He Who Knows is walking the hound and I'm waiting for the washing to finish so it can go up in the utility room, really not worth trying for outside I think. Not sure what to do for supper tonight but I have some chicken breasts in the fridge so I might make a curry, that shouldn't hurt his poor tooth should it?
Have yourselves a good day all, Lyn xxx.0 -
Good morning all.
Hugs to all those who want one. Handshake to those who don't like hugs.
Oh no redruby that's awful, I'm sorry. Hopefully karma will come and bite the horrible person!
Had an awful migraine yesterday so sat on the sofa all evening while OH made the most scrumptious lentil lasagne, onion rings and garlic bread - all vegan of course! I think we'll have the leftovers for tea tonight so it'll be quick and easy.
Weather is lovely here so had a very nice cycle to work, hope it holds off for this evening's ride home!!
Going to pop into town on my way home to try and buy some lace for my wedding invitations. One of the places where we really like for our reception (but has no dates for next year available), will be calling today to let me know if a provisional booking for May is now free or not so I'm keeping my fingers crossed!
I hope you all have lovely days and accomplish everything you set out to.

Morning (((((((((((((((((((((((hugs)))))))))))))))))))))) if you need one. Especially Hillstep and Elona.
I have the towels in the washer, it keeps clouding over, but the wind is quite strong so a chance of getting them dry. The forecast was for showers.
No idea what I am going to do today, might empty the food cupboard and see exactly what I have in there. We need to do s freezer audit too, see what, if any meat I will need next month,
Lidl is opening in the town 2nd June, so will have a pop in and see what they have, might swap to them until we find out Aldis plans for the town.
DD2 phoned last night, she had a good first day at work, has a weekend course first weekend in June, so will take and collect her, its difficult to get to on public transport, she has to go into Nottingham and then out again.
Oh sun has just broken through the clouds, doubt it will last long though, the wind is fairly scutting the clouds along.0 -
Have put out some recycling and towels are in washing machine.
Need to wash another couple of loads and hang them outside.
Might go visit DD in York and treat ourselves to the cinema this afternoon after making a couple of phone calls. DD is coming back on Wednesday evening for a couple of nights as she has to work up here for a couple of days.
Strange to be alone in the house as various DDs have been popping back a lot but hopefully when I sell and downsize it will seem more natural.
