Someone else using my email for an Instagram account?

A bizarre thing happened today.

I got a couple of emails from Instagram and I don't have an account with them on this certain email (which I use for work and job searching).

The two emails I had were "Welcome to Instagram" and "Confirm your email address" . Same account both times and they share my name.

I have now created an Instagram account with that email and changed the password for that email address now.

Has anyone had this happen to them?

I recently discovered someone had set me a badoo account up. I had never heard of them, but they had my profile and FB photos.

Did not trust the reasons, maybe a way of trying to gain passwords. I sent a forgot password, they sent me a replacement password and I used that, just so I could access the account to delete it.

I have had someone in Florida using my Gmail to order stuff from US company, goodness know why she will not use her own e-mail

I changed my gmail password and but before I did I sent a "forgot password" to the US company, and changed her login details

No problems since, if it happens again I will possibly order some expensive watch on her account

I have had it. The person had just misspelled their google email address by one letter when creating an account (for LinkedIn if I remember correctly). No malicious intend (I guessed their real email address by taking one letter away and send a message to them).
