How to remove a delinquent settled account from credit report

Hi
I took out a loan with nat West over 10 years ago which along with some other debts was tied up into a debt repayment plan.
The loan went into arrears and a repayment plan was negotiated with frozen interest.
I finally settled the all of my accounts in august 2013 and the defaulted accounts which originally defaulted in 2008 have all disappeared from my report with the exception of the nat West loan which now shows as 'settled / delinquent'
This is causing me major problems as I need to take out a loan for some home improvements with my current bank Lloyd but when they reference me, their system automatically flags up with 'credit bureau'.
I'd there any way of getting nat West to remove their entry?
Thanks in advance

An account that doesn't have a default recorded will show on file for 6 years from the date it was settled.
Sometimes people have successfully argued that a default should have been recorded a few months after they fell in to arrears, and get a default put on file and backdated so it may be worth writing to the lender.
But this approach won't always work and whether they consider the account defaulted or in an arrangement to pay can be a matter of interpretation, depending on the level of repayments you were making through your repayment plan.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
Thanks.
Isn't that crazy that it's actually done me more harm NOT having the account go into official default!
I will give Nat West a call tomorrow and see if anything can be done0
