Free credit check despite existing account?

Hi there,
Trying to check my credit file for the first time in years but both major providers seem to remember me and want me to log in with my previous details. Trying to check Experian means that I can't have the free report, it always asks me to log in and then provide credit card details with £14.99 being taken today. Does this mean as a returning customer I can't have the free credit file again? Which in a way is fair enough since I had it a few years ago. However, since MSE is suggesting to check it every 12-18 months I was just wondering whether this means you have to pay after the first time.
Am I missing something? Nb. Tried using different email address, it still 'recognises' me (fair enough, that's the point in a way).
Thanks!

Yes for experian and equifax you can only have 1 free trial (used to be able to get a second one with a different email address but that seems to have been tightened up on now).
Your callcredit file you can get free each month from noddle. So a lot of people check that regularly, and pay the £2 for the others once a year or before major credit applications.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
Hi Roosit.
As Tixy has mentioned we do only offer one free trial.
You can apply for your statutory report for £2.00 here.
Either to view on-line or for a paper copy to be posted to you.
Kind regards

Got it. When trying to reactivate my account it kept coming up with £14.99 hence why I got confused (got stung with monthly payments by a competitor once and didn't realise until six months later :embarasse so wanted to be sure this time. Found the correct link re £2 reports on the MSE website, all good. Thanks for the advice re noddle as well!0

I got my second Equifax report for free and just asked how long it is between each one (See link below).
Cant get my second Experian free trail again but £2 isn't going to break the bank before applying for a mortgage.
