Upgrading TSB Current account question

My father currently has several TSB Current accounts (ex LloydsTSB Vantage/Enhance accounts)
One of these is a AVA account (a TSB Gold Account) - mainly for the worldwide travel insurance - and the others are standard/free 'Enhance' accounts.
He tried to upgrade one of his 'Enhance' accounts online to a TSB Classic Plus but the online system woudn't let him. Neither would TSB do so on the telephone and appear to be insisting he goes into a branch because he has an AVA account.
Does that sound right? He doesn't want to change his AVA account but upgrade one of his others to a Classic Plus..
Regards
Sunil

I believe that you can't just upgrade to a Classic Plus as it's a different type of account altogether (so they say) and you can't just add the 'plus' bit on to an existing Classic account.0

I was able to upgrade my Enhance account to a Plus online but unlike my father I don't have an AVA as well..0

If their systems are anything like Lloyds' then he won't be able to do it online because of some IT glitch (if you have a Silver/Gold/Platinum/Premier account and a Classic Lloyds account and want to upgrade one of them to a Club Lloyds then the online system will automatically upgrade the AVA account.) Not sure why that would affect him doing it over the phone.DEBT FREE!
