We found return direct flights for £345, leaving at really convenient times too. Seemed too good to pass up. Will just need to take plenty of layers!
Thanks for the suggestions all anyway, they have all been taken on board for future holidays.
I was thinking New York, except for the 't shirt weather' thing. Have fun. It's great. Don't forget to buy crown tickets for the statue of liberty before you go though.0 -
What about Tokyo? You should be able to get flights for around £600-700 each and there is a nice hotel chain there called Toyoko inn that have nice rooms for around £40p/n. The city has loads to do and even if you want to do day trips further afield, the bullet trains are a good way to go.0

How about starting and finishing in Istanbul? It's one of the world's great destinations, with enough culture and sights to keep you going for weeks.
For the beach and scenery, it's a short flight to Bodrum, Antalya, or Dalaman. As time is an issue then you need to keep the transfer time to a minimum. We've visited several coastal areas, with Bodrum being our favourite. Here's a short trip report I posted last year...

and also one for Antalya (Lara Beach) for an out of season cheapie earlier this year...

I've been to Cuba, as lovely as it was I wouldn't return.
However, I would return to Thailand, there's so much to do.
Good luck with whatever you chose0 -
If you like watersports or tennis or mountain biking or fitness or all of the above then I'd massively suggest a Neilson Active holiday! If I had the money I'd definitely go! When I was 18 I worked at the Neilson flagship resort in Foca, Turkey (Phokaia) and it was fantastic! So much to do and a really beautiful place. One day I'll get back there but sadly my holiday budgets are around the £400 mark rather than £15000
