You're probably right. Only this morning I read an article about a Which petition against just this sort of thing. What I didn't agree with was that they though shoppers were taken in by such sharp (possibly illegal) practices.

    A lot people unfortunately are.

Just go into any supermarket and see what people put into their baskets.

Sainsburys are the main supermarket in the high street in my town. They are the most expensive supermarket now next to Waitrose.

But they do these 'sharp practices' all the time.

Personally I can't wait for the outcome of the Which super complaint and hope they find we ARE being taken for a ride.

Update on the price of Tesco grapes.

Was in a Tesco Local today and both red and green grapes were £2.00 a pack for the usual size.

So why £2.50 in Big Tescos.?

I saw grapes for £2.69 per 500g in M&S on Wednesday. (But 2x for £4).
  • I thought tesc0 were getting their acts together regarding playing silly !!!!!!s with prices after the slump that they've been through...

Saw the grapes on the same day as you and they were £2.

Was in a main food shop hall though.

Coming to the End of the Southern Hemisphere season ( South Africa and chile ) and start of northern hemisphere not started ( Europe and North Africa -Egypt/Morocco) the white or green grapes are from India mostly at moment.
Prices will ease again in early mud June.

It's far to easy to forget that many crops should be seasonal nowadays and that prices and availability should change with the season.

It doesn't seem to happen as much as it used to though. I remember when Woolworths used to have counters piled high with runner beans, broad beans and strawberries in season and you could buy them loose very cheaply.

Seasonal British produce is a bit cheaper but not massively so.

I was astonished at the price of 500g pummets of grapes at £2.50 this morning but equally astonished at 20 omega 3 birdseye fish fingers reduced from £4 to £1 reduced to clear at t3sc0.
I can't see them shifting many grapes at that price. Value grapes are half the price.

Why do you keep substituting letters for numbers? If anything having Tesco see us talking about their prices like this can only help the situation. And you used the proper name in the thread title... bizarre!
