New job and sacrifices

Hi there,
I have recently been offered a new job and have accepted (I have not had a contract yet, but an offer of employment). It is a good job with good prospects but it will involve being away from home a lot and I will have to sacrifice having a private life. I live with my boyfriend and our time spent together will drastically decrease. I am also training for a half marathon and go to classes in the area, all of which I will have to give up.
I also struggle with depression and anxiety and I am not sure that such a drastic change will be good for me in the long run. So my question is could I change my mind? I have already worked half of my notice at my current job so I need to make a decision sooner rather than later. Would I be tied into this new place as I signed an acceptance? Has anyone made this sacrifice and been glad they did?
Thanks

Heya
Just from what u mentioned, it seems you have a lot going onin your personal life. And for me Personal life should win over Work! But that’smy opinion.
I did something similar, where I left a “cushy” job for moreof a challenge. Involved more travelling, and definitely more learning and greatexperience. However after 3 months or so , the novelty of travelling (quite alot by car) soon wore off. Esp wen u in hotels alone, etc. Plus I have a youngdaughter and wife, and there came a point where I just had enough and decidedto sack it off.
Just got an offer now, which I am in negotiations over, which would go back to a regular 9-5 office based. Which will give me back thepersonal / family time back. I think @ this stage, for me that’s moreimportant. If in the future I change my mind again, at least I have a betteridea what im letting myself back in for.
And from what you describing, you sound similar. And thefact you have doubts, means maybe to stick to what your currently doing. @least for now.
But your decision.
The Big Q is how u approach your current employer and revokeyour notice. Not quite sure on this one.

Speak to your current employer and see what they say because they do not have to take you back on if you have resigned in writing.
Consider your LIFE and understand what you and your partner want to get out of it and achieve.
You are a long time dead, so work can get in the way of LIFE and chasing the Dollar may not really get to where you really want to be.
But as a previous sage said 'its you decision'Debt is a symptom, solve the problem.0 -

That's exactly what I did, I'm approaching a large birthday and I was a bit freaked that I hadn't achieved what I wanted to by this age. So I thought that I was making the right decision by going for a more challenging role, but as time has gone on, I have become more unsure and I'm dreading leaving my current place now.
I spoke to my boyfriend last night and he said that if I really didn't want to take it and my current work wouldn't take my back then I could always be unemployed for a bit, though I think that would potentially put me in a worse position.Total Debt - £17,850.57

beccals... like I said, your situation sounds similar to mine. Even down to approaching a milestone age!!
But for me, I don’t think it’s been worth it, for bothmyself and family. So now (a year later) I’m reversing that decision.
I now have the comfort, of doing it, experiencing it andknowing it wasn’t right. If I hadn’t I might still be regretting not going forit.
I feel the first thing to do now, is speak to your currentmanger and/or HR, and know what they say. I.e. Is the option there to return.

Hi,
You're right, I could probably still manage to find time for the training. It's going to vary, but may eventually be 4 or 5 nights every week, it's nationwide so I'd be moved about quite a bit.Total Debt - £17,850.57

Thanks bamgbost. Good to know that there are other people who have experienced this. I'll speak to my manager today and see what he says. Fingers crossed!Total Debt - £17,850.57

Always try the job, (if you can't remain with present employer) you might have a touch of the collie wobbles no disrespect and all works out okay, being unemployed is no fun and you really need a sound reason for leaving in interviews if you don't want to disclose anxiety issues
Personally if unsure of the new company, is there not still an opportunity to ask for a sit & see? (bit like a trial day)
