Morning All, can anyone confirm whether I have to resend the PI to my tenant at the end of the initial 6 months tenancy? The deposit is secured with the DPS and all info was given at the beginning of tenancy.

Sorry, should have added that the tenancy hasn't ended, it's now going to be a Periodic tenancy after the initial 6 months.0

There is no need to give PI again.
Assuming a 'standard' agreement, the tenancy has ended and has been replaced by a periodic tenancy.0 -
Thanks jjlandlord. Yes, of course you are correct that the tenancy has ended- won't have to worry about sending the P.I. Thank you.0

Just an update on this: rang the DPS and they state that I DO have to issue the P.I.!!! butb don't have to do anything with the deposit. Sorry jjlandlord, not sure who's right now. Anyway have sent the P.I. just in case - but has anyone any further comments?0

I queried the exact same thing with DPS over the weekend as I have a similar situation and the response was yes you should issue it...I think the term that was used in the online chat we had was it is good practice to issue it again.frugal October...£41.82 of £40 food shopping spend for the 2 of us!
2017 toiletries challenge 179 out 145 in ...£18.64 spend0 -
Well, it does no harm to re-issue.
whetehr it is 'good practice' depends on your personal definition.
It is not any longer legally required however. Read the 2015 Act.0 -
There is no point re-issuing them:
There is no legal requirement to do it, and I don't see what the benefit of doing it. However, I can see a downside: If tenants are to used to have them re-issued then they will start complaining or think they can sue (as it used to be the case) if they don't receive them again.
Never rely on deposit schemes to tell you what to do. Their track record is too poor.0 -
Thanks All, I cannot believe that the DPS got it wrong! I should have realised that you guys would have known the right answer. i have already sent the P.I. again and I guess that as the tenancy is periodic I won't have to deal with this again.0
