Can anyone tell me how to find the cheapest fares for ferries to Ireland.
Not bothered which route we take and we are flexible on the days we travel. Is there anyway to find out if some days / routes are cheaper than others. We would like to be there for the week of 13th July 2015.
Thanks everyone for your help

If you are going as a foot passenger try Trainline. Type your local departure station as departure and Dublin as destination. It's the London Holyhead train and ferry from Holyhead to Dublin.
I have priced it for July and it is £132 in total, return for three of us (train and ferry) from Llandudno Junction using a friend's and family railcard.0 -
That sounds a great idea - but hubby wants to take the car!!0

https://www.directferries.co.uk will often show you cheaper alternatives, and compares different ferry companies on the same screen.0

The main two ferry companies crossing the Irish Sea are Irish Ferries and Stena going into Dublin and Rosslare.
You won't find prices cheaper anywhere else other than their websites and their fares are generally about the same.
Depending on how far you have to drive in the UK to get to the ferries and the closeness of airports offering cheap flights to Ireland it's sometimes cheaper to fly and hire a car at the other end especially during the peak summer months.0 -
I use P&O Cairnryan to Larne every couple of months or so.
There's never any difference in the fare, regardless of what day or time I cross - £260 return with priority boarding.Change is inevitable, except from a vending machine.0 -
I find travel by air is cheaper than by ferry...0

I find travel by air is cheaper than by ferry...
I suspect people travel by ferry, not for the cost but the ability to take your car loaded to the roof with whatever you want to take, kids stuff, bikes, push chairs etc.
Taking a similar amount of baggage and then hiring a car would push the air travel cost way upChange is inevitable, except from a vending machine.0 -

That's why we take vehicle just throw stuff in and away you go.
When I've got to Ireland I've cheated and had the cost of the ferry added onto the accommodation as worked out cheaper to get them combined.
If I didn't do that, I would book direct, but if you are comparing prices, delete the cookies after each one.The Very Right Honourable Lady Tarry of the Alphabetty thread-I just love finding bargains and saving moneyI love to travel as much as I can when I canLife has a way to test you, it's how you deal with this that matters0 -
I just got this through email. They say it's an exclusive not available anywhere else (not verified) but could be worth it:
