is my laptop "wireless" ??

recent dell laptop ... with aol broadband .. and i use a modem and all is fine . I know there was a small light always on .. that said "wi-fi". But occassionally when i've been away in hotels with "wi-fi" .. just turned the laptop and its' fired up straight onto the internet ...no problems . Now i've got a new toshiba…

For so many reasons, not encrypted so anyone can snoop. Also no way of checking whether it's even the hotel's wireless. Could just be a honeypot so everything you do is recorded by someone with their own laptop.
