I dont think checking investments often is necessarily a bad thing. I hold some funds which have gone down over 10% this past month. Perfect top up opportunity. My well-performing UK, Japan and small-cap funds appear to have reduced the impact overall to a mere 5%.

I agree though it depends on your motivations for doing so. Personally I check quite regularly but merely as a means better understand the market movements in relation to geopolitical events and economic data (and as you say, to occasionally top up investments I still fundamentally believe in).

However, I suspect the OP may be trying to reassure themselves they have made the right investment choices in which case frequent checking may only add to their reservations about their original investments if they are perturbed by volatility.

Yes my portfolio is down as well from about a month ago. Either due to the strength of the pound or bond price decreasing as I hold 60% equities and 40% bonds/fixed term investments. Mixed blessing in my case as I recently requested a cash isa transfer which is going through at the moment so hopefully buying while the price is low is to my advantage.

Unless you are thinking of selling though it does not really matter. I am thinking of my stocks and shares like property and not worrying too much about the ups and downs in the short to medium term.

I only bought my S&S ISA about 15 months ago and hit a high on April 12th when it was up by over 12%. It is now up just under 9% so I've lost about 3.5% in the last month.

I've started, a few months ago, taking a snapshot on the 15th of each month.

I'm down 3.1% on this time last month (seems to be a recurring theme :) ).

I was roughly 1% up overall about a month ago and now I'm about 4% down.

Received or due to receive any dividends?

I'm 0.5% up since this time last month, however, since the 7th May I'm 2.35% up. I'm still about 1.25% down from the high point (can't remember exactly when) in the last 6 months.
